Lycoming College announces its summer theatre season, which will
bring three different productions to the Mary L. Welch Theatre
during the month of June.
Ancestral Voices opens the season on June 7 and runs through
June10. The play is by A. R. Gurney who wrote Love Letters
and Sylvia, both of which were produced by Lycoming within
the last several years. Ancestral Voices is directed by Dr.
Fredric Wild and will include Darren Hengst, a recent Lycoming
College graduate, as Eddie, Michael Person and Angelique Caffrey as
his parents, and Garret Tinsman and Dorothy Maples as the
grandparents.
June 14-17, a musical revue, Starting Here, Starting Now,
directed by Dr. Robert F. Falk, takes the stage. The revue features
Jennifer Desmond Wilson, Bernadette Ulrich (a recent Lycoming
College graduate, and Darren Hengst. Musical accompaniment will be
provided by Douglas Barclay on piano, Chalie Holmes on bass and Lou
Feist on drums.
The final production, June 21-24, is Wenceslas Square by
Larry Shue, put on by the Off-Broadway Metropolitan Playhouse. Wenceslas
Square is directed by David Zarko and features Mary Ethel
Schmidt, a Lycoming College alumna who has appeared in summer
theatre productions from time to time.
All evening performances start at 7:30 p.m., Sunday matinees are
at 2 p.m. The Mary L. Theatre is on the Lycoming College campus and
is air conditioned.
Tickets are $ 27 for the season, $10 for individual performances.
