Lycoming College's Mary L. Welch Theater presents the Pulitzer Prize-winning play, My Sister in This House, by Wendy Kesselman on November 14-18. Lycoming College's Visiting Assistant Professor of Theater, David Murray Jaffe, will direct the play.
The dramatic play is based on an infamous murder of two women from the town of Le Mans, France, in the 1930s. Two sisters worked as servants in the household of the victims---a mother and daughter---for several years when, due to still ambiguous turns of events, the murders took place. This dark, poetic and suspenseful piece of theater focuses on the surprising relationships between the women in the house until the disturbing conclusion is played out.
"The play was first done at the Actor's Theater of Louisville, Kentucky, then went on to The Second Stage in New York City," said Jaffe. Kesselman has written a variety of children's books, including "Emma" and "Sand in My Shoes," as well as other plays, including "Maggie Magalita."
Four Lycoming College students will star in the play. Alexis Dow, a senior English major and resident of Lebanon has also been featured in productions of What I Did Last Summer, Communicating Doors, Defying Gravity, Skin of Our Teeth, Something's Afoot, Fortinbras, and most recently in Crimes of the Heart.
