Gallery Opening for Harper Exhibition
The Lycoming College art gallery will feature sculpture artist Cynthia Harper’s exhibit "Round into Square," Thursday, Nov. 1 through Monday, Dec. 3, 2001. A reception will be held from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 1, 2001, in the gallery at Snowden Library.

Cynthia Harper, a resident of Millville since 1996 and native of California, focuses her talent on public art and site-specific projects, sculptural forms, installations and drawings. She received her bachelor of fine arts degree from Otis Art Institute of Parsons School of Design, Los Angeles, Calif., in 1987 and her master of fine arts degree from the California College of Arts and Crafts, Oakland, Calif. in 1990.

Recently Harper taught at Bloomsburg University and is an adjunct faculty member at Pennsylvania College of Technology. Her artwork has been displayed throughout 21 states from coast to coast and three foreign countries in 24 solo or two-person exhibits and 42 group exhibitions.

Among Harper’s numerous awards, she has been presented with The Pritzker Foundation Endowed Fellowship in 1997; Nebraska Arts Council, Special Projects Grant for "SITE OMAHA" in 1996; Alaska State Council of the Arts, visiting artist grant in 1995; Mid-America Arts Alliance Fellowship, drawing, in 1994; and the National Endowment for the Humanities, summer seminars, NYC, 1993.

The gallery is located on the first floor of the Snowden Library and is open during normal library hours: Monday through Thursday, from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m.; Friday from 8:00 to 4:30 p.m.; Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Sunday from 1:00 to 11:00 p.m.
