| WILLIAMSPORT,
PA -- Erin Mastrantonio of Elmira, N.Y., a sophomore at Lycoming
College, has been selected to be a member of the National Wind
Ensemble which will perform at Carnegie Hall in May. Erin was
selected from 1,000 auditioners, nationwide for the 75-member
ensemble.
The 5th Annual National
Wind Ensemble performance will be held on May 25, 2002, under the
direction of H. Robert Reynolds, one of the top musical educators.
The purpose of the ensemble is to identify talented students from
across the country who have already demonstrated their musical
ability and commitment and to provide them with the opportunity to
perform in world-renowned venue.
Participants will take part in a
six-day/five-night residency in new York City with intensive
rehearsals and the final performance at Carnegie Hall.
The concert will include
Shostakovich's "Festive Overture" Daugherty's
"Niagara Falls," and a new commission for the National
Wind Ensemble.
Erin is a member of the Lycoming
College Concert Band under the direction of Christopher Woodruff
as well as a member of the college's woodwind quintet.
