| The
Lycoming College Concert Band, conducted by Christopher Woodruff,
will perform a concert on Friday, November 9 at 8 p.m. in Clarke
Chapel. The concert is free and open to the public.
The concert will include a setting by Claude T. Smith of God
of Our Fathers, selections from Gershwin’s Porgy and Bess,
Holst’s First Suite in E Flat and Bagley’s National
Emblem March.
Woodruff is a Visiting Instructor of Music at Lycoming College.
He received his bachelor’s degree in music education from
Louisiana State University and went on to receive his master’s
degree in music from Northwestern University. Woodruff was a high
school band director in Florida, a band director for the Music
Institute of Chicago of Wilmette, IL and marching and symphonic band
director at the University of Northern Iowa. He conducted the Spring
Valley Concert Band of Schaumburg, IL, the Northshore Chamber
Orchestra of Evanston, Illinois, and served as a guest conductor of
the Northshore Concert Band of Winnetka, Illinois.
