The brothers of Tau Kappa Epsilon (TKE)
fraternity at Lycoming College will hold a read-for-life fundraiser,
with all proceeds benefiting the Kirby Fenton Fund.
The event will start on Friday, November 14th
at 6:00 PM in Burchfield Lounge and will run until 6:00 AM on
Sunday, November 16th. For the duration of the
read-for-life, six TKE brothers will serve as readers and take turns
reading out loud for 36 hours straight. The readers will remain in
the lounge for the duration of event—eating and sleeping there.
Kirby Fenton is a TKE Alumni who graduated from
Lycoming College in 1980. He is currently suffering from a brain
tumor and is not responding to the chemotherapy. The fund will help
support Fenton’s wife and two children. Before his illness set in,
Mr. Fenton was a police officer in the Tampa-St. Petersburg area.
Any donations will be accepted at the
Read-for-Life, where there will be a table, or by contacting any TKE
brother. Checks can be made out to the Kirby Fenton Fund. There
will also be sheets for pledges, where a person can have the option
of writing down their donation and paying it later. All donations
will be greatly appreciated, as the brothers of TKE are working
against the clock to try and help Mr. Fenton’s family.
Anyone wishing for further information may
contact TKE president Gene Melvin at
meleuge@lycoming.edu or Vice President Kris Accardi at
acckris@lycoming.edu.
