The Mary L. Welch Theatre at Lycoming College has announced its
summer theatre events.
The season opens on June 14 with a revival of A.R. Gurney’s LOVE
LETTERS which will run June 14-16. The play is a
bittersweet depiction of a lifelong love affair between two of
Gurney’s most memorable characters. The play was done several
years ago at Lycoming with great reviews.
On June 20-23 is a Tony Award-winning comedy by Paul Rudnick
(author of the play JEFFREY and screenplays for ADDAMS
FAMILY VALUES and IN AND OUT) entitled I HATE
HAMLET, a charming and funny "backstage" story
featuring the ghost of John Barrymore and an eccentric cast of
characters.
And beginning on June 27 through June 30, the beautiful music of
the team of Rodgers and Hammerstein takes center stage in a romantic
revue entitled SOME ENCHANTED EVENING. The revue marks
the 100th anniversary of the birth of Richards Rodgers.
The production will offer a glorious parade of genuine hits from
some of the truly great Broadway shows.
David Murray Jaffe, a member of the Lycoming College theatre
faculty, is the producer and artistic director for this season. All
shows are at 7:30 p.m. with a Sunday matinee at 2 p.m. Tickets are
$10 each or all three plays for $25. For more information on
tickets, call the box office at 321-4048. ###END###
