The Mary L. Welch Theatre at Lycoming College marks the 100th anniversary of the birth of Richard Rodgers with Some Enchanted Evening, featuring some of the best loved songs by musical threatre greats Rodgers and Hammerstein. Performances are June 27 through the 30 with a 7:30 p.m. curtain Thursday through Saturday nights, and a 2 p.m. matinee on Sunday, June 30.

The revue is directed by Mark Lingenfelter with musical direction by Jacqueline Engel.

 
Tara Oakley
The parade of Rodgers and Hammerstein hits are brought to life by Alexis Dow, Darren Hengst, Jason Moyer, Tara Oakley and Jennifer Desmond Wilson.

 Darren Michael Hengst, a 1999 Lycoming graduate now studying theatre at the University of Illinois, has a long list of Welch Theatre credits, including featured roles in Into the Woods, The Foreigner, The Secret Garden, The Fantasticks, Life With Father, and Lend Me a Tenor. At the University of Illinois, he has starred in The Stairs to the Roof, The Two Gentlemen of Verona, and The Threepenny Opera.

Jason Moyer, a Lycoming College graduate, has appeared locally with the Scottish Rite Players, Community Theatre League, Custom Taylored Productions, and Millbrook Playhouse. He has been seen in Anything Goes, Cinderella, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum and in Run for Your Wife. Moyer is a member of the Williamsport Choir and Orchestra and performs throughout the area as a soloist.

Jennifer Desmond Wilson is a frequent performer on the Welch stage. Last summer she was seen in Starting Here, Starting Now and, in past summers, she has had major roles in Carousel, The Secret Garden, and A Little Night Music.

Tara Oakley and Alexis Dow are May graduates of Lycoming College. Both are familiar to Welch Theatre audiences. Most recently Oakley and Dow were in Communicating Doors, My Sister in This House, Crimes of the Heart and the Great American Backstage Musical. Dow was Ophelia in Fortinbras and Ethel in Peg O'My Heart. Oakley has been seen in The Foreigner and A View from the Bridge.

Although Mark Lingenfelter makes his Welch Theatre directing debut with Some Enchanted Evening, has been working in theatre as a performer, director, choreographer, and theatre educator. He holds a degree in musical theatre from Catawba College and just finished a run in A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum at Blatt's Dinner Theatre in Kutztown.

Musical Director Jacquie Engel has more than 60 productions to her credit at the Community Theatre League, Scottish Rite and several area high schools.
