Ground broken for New Rec Center

 

The official groundbreaking for the recreation center took place on Friday, November 15, 2002

Robert L. Shangraw, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Lycoming College, led off the group  of groundbreakers that included four students. Instead of a shovel, however, Bob comandeered one of the big cats standing nearby to do the honors. .

In hard hats were Pete Sides '60, Chairman of the Buildings and Grounds Committee of the  Board of Trustees; President James E. Douthat;  Dr. John F. Piper Jr., Dean of the College; Robert Griesemer, Treasurer of  the College; and Dr. Sue Saunders, Dean of Student Affairs.  

Student representatives included Steve Sharp, president of Student Senate;
Gretchen Hause, vice president of Student Senate and co-captain of volleyball team; Tom Wesner, co-captain men's basketball team; and Cricket Temple, star tennis player.
