| The Lycoming College Criminal Justice
Department will host its annual Strauser Lecture, featuring FBI agent
Ken McCabe, on November 13, 2003. McCabe will discuss the “War on
Terrorism.”
Ken McCabe is a 1975 graduate of Lycoming College, with a BA in
Political Science. He served over eight years in the United States
Marine Corps before receiving his appointment as a Special Agent in
the FBI, in 1984. He worked in the Cincinnati Division in several
investigative areas, including Bank Robberies, Kidnapping, Extortion,
Fugitives, Insurance Fraud, Interstate Theft, Organized Crime, and
Drugs, as well as serving on the Cincinnati SWAT team. He transferred
to the FBI Office in Miami in 1988, were he worked drug investigations
until he was promoted to Supervisory Special Agent. He supervised the
Colombian Drug Squad, the Money Laundering Squad, and served as the
Miami SWAT team and Crisis Management Coordinator from August 1992 to
May 1995.
In June 1995, Mr. McCabe was transferred to FBI
Head Quarters, where he helped to start the Russian Organized Crime
Unit. He was the Acting Unit Chief of this unit until his promotion
in 1997 as a Team Leader in the Inspection Division. Three years
later, he was designated the Section Chief for the Operational
Response Section, Laboratory Division. He was responsible for the
Hazardous Material Response Unit, Evidence Response Team Unit, Crisis
Response Unit, and the Bomb Data Center.
Today, Mr. McCabe works as Special Agent in
Charge of Pittsburgh Division, which handles all FBI investigation
matters in Western Pennsylvania and West Virginia.
