| Dr.
Jayne Seminare Docherty, an expert on conflict resolution, will speak at Lycoming College on the topic
of "Finding Long Term Security in a Post 9/11 World,"
October 21, 7:00 p.m. in the Barclay Lecture Hall of the Heim
Building. The lecture is the final presentation of the
College's Fall
Symposium: After 9/11: Responses and Reflections. .
Dr. Docherty earned a doctorate from the
Institute of Conflict Analysis and Resolution at George Mason
University in 1998. She has worked on environmental conflict
resolution projects, on community-building initiatives, and with
organizations and communities undergoing cultural changes. Dr.
Docherty is currently a member of the faculty of the Conflict
Transformation Program (CTP) of Eastern Mennonite University in
Harrisonburg, Virginia, an internationally recognized graduate
program emphasizing practice in the areas of conflict
transformation, restorative justice, and trauma healing and
reconciliation. She is the author of Learning Lessons from Waco:
When the Parties Bring Their Gods to the Negotiation Table, and
she has published several papers on terrorism, violence, and
conflicts between law enforcement authorities and new religious
movements.
