On Tuesday, September 16, 7:30 p.m. Adam Makos and Bryan Makos of
Montoursville, will give a presentation at Lycoming College on "The
Life and Times of Chuck Yeager," the first man to break the sound
barrier, .
The Makos brothers have researched Chuck Yeager for the current
of Ghost Wings Magazine of which Adam Makos is the publisher/
editor and Bryan Makos is the associate editor. The two brothers
interviewed Yeager at length for the magazine.
The talk will be held in the Barclay Lecture Hall (G-11) of the
Heim Building. It is the second in a series of events comprising a
fall symposium on "Space: A Revolution in Perspective," that
commemorates 100 years of flight.
Adam and Bryan Makos are founders of Ghost Wings Magazine
which is dedicated to "Honoring the Sacrifices of America’s
Veterans." They are the youngest
professional publishing team in the country. Ghost Wings features
human-interest accounts from American veterans of World War II,
Korea, Vietnam, the Cold War, and present day conflicts.
Adam Makos is a graduate of Lycoming College where his brother,
Bryan, is a student.
The Lycoming College symposium features 12 different lectures and
presentations that range from a visit from a NASA astrophysicist to
a virtual trip to Mars.
The symposium is being organized by Dr. David Fisher, associate
professor of physics and astronomy and a spaceflight historian, and
Dr. Robin J. DeWitt Knauth, instructor in religion.
Dr. Fisher notes that this is a good time for a symposium on
space. "This is the Centennial of the Wright Brothers [first manned
flight].
