| The
Lycoming College Concert Band, under the direction of Christopher
Woodruff, will present Songs Without Words on Friday,
November 15, at 8 p.m. in Clarke Chapel.
The Concert Band will perform
pieces based on tunes from the wide world of vocal music. The
feature composition of the concert is three of the six movements
of Grainger’s Lincolnshire Posy. The works of Hanssen, Brahms,
and Holst will also be played during this performance.
The concert will feature a low
brass section in an arrangement from Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, and the
flute section will be featured on a medley of Jamaican songs.
Instrumentalists from all across
campus are featured in the Lycoming College Concert Band. In
addition to a regular concert schedule in the fall and spring
semesters, the ensemble performs for Family Weekend and the
Homecoming football games. At the end of the spring semester, the
Concert Band also makes an annual concert tour, representing
Lycoming College across the region.
