In
a year of bad news in the financial section of the newspaper,
Lycoming College has good news: It, once again, met its Annual Fund
goal, raising $710,000 in unrestricted funds during the past
fiscal year that ended June 30.
"This is extraordinary good news
for the College," said Thomas Ruhl, Vice President of
Development. "This Annual Fund represents money that can be
used by the College right now, to ensure programs and provide
scholarship funds."
The
final gift, the one that put the fund over the top, came from Beatrice
'69 and David Gathman '69 who were the Chairs of this
year's Annual Fund campaign.
"It took a lot of work by a lot
of people," said Jennifer Desmond Wilson, who just completed
her first year as Director of Annual Giving. "We need to thank
our student phonathon workers, staff members and, of course, our
alumni and friends who were so generous in their giving."
The $710,000 successful Annual Fund
marks a milestone for the College. It is the most money the College
has ever raised for its Annual Fund in a single year, and the total
is up $31,000 over last year.
Next year's Annual Fund goal is
$745,000. Chairman of the Annual Fund for the coming year is Julie
Hottle Day '88.
