GOUGH WINS CHIEFTAIN AWARD

Lycoming’s Highest Honor Given To A Graduating Senior

Jessica Gough of Berwick was presented with the Chieftain Award, Lycoming College’s highest honor given to a graduating senior, by President James E. Douthat at the College’s Honors Convocation April 22.

The Chieftain Award recognizes “the senior who has contributed the most to Lycoming College through support of school activities; who has exhibited outstanding leadership qualities; who has worked effectively with other members of the College community; who has evidenced a good moral character; and whose academic rank is above the median of the preceding senior class.”

Gough is a mathematics/actuarial mathematics/quantitative economics triple major, and has been on the dean’s list every semester at Lycoming. She is the president of her senior class, a member of student senate, the panhellenic council treasurer, a math tutor, and dance instructor, to list a few of her accomplishments.

Gough, who earned 2007 second team All-Conference for her part in the women’s swimming 200 free and 200 medley relay teams, is a perennial recipient of the MAC’s student-athlete Academic Honor Roll. Gough was given the Teammate Award and the prestigious Mort Rauff Award for "the swimmer who demonstrated overall individual excellence and team spirit."

Beginning in July, she will work as an actuary for Prudential Financial.
