Freshmen Football Players Clear Trails at Rider Park

 On Tuesday, August 23, 25 freshmen member of the Lycoming College football team spent 4 hours  helping to improve Rider Park, a 860-acre woodlands park near Warrensville, Pa.

 The group broke into squads and together cleared over 5 miles of trails of fallen trees, overgrowth and debris, and painted the pavilion and four entrance gates.

 “Coach” for the football service day was Dr. Mel Zimmerman, professor of biology and a park board member, along with board members Ron Beach, Charlie Schwartz and Don Neibert.

 All freshmen at Lycoming College are encouraged to complete a community service project during their first semester.
