WILLIAMSPORT, PA-- Pulitzer
Prize- winning poet Stephen Dunn will give a reading of his work on
Tuesday, October 21, 2003, at 7:30 PM in the Mary L. Welch Theatre
at Lycoming College. Dunn is currently a
distinguished Professor of Creative Writing at Richard Stockton
College of New Jersey, but has also held residencies at institutions
such as Columbia University, University of Michigan, and Princeton
University.
He has authored twelve books of poetry
including New and Selected Poems, Different Hours (for which

He has also published in Brilliant Corners,
Lycoming’s national literary journal. His poem "Open Door Blues"
from the latest issue was selected for and reprinted in The Best
American Poetry 2003. In addition to
the Pulitzer Prize, his honors include the Academy Award for
Literature and the James Wright Prize, as well as fellowships from
the National Endowment for the Arts and the New Jersey Council on
the Arts. Dunn says that the greatest benefit of winning the
Pulitzer is that his poetry "will be looked at with new regard and
will be exposed to new readers. That’s really the most important
thing."
Dunn has given numerous poetry readings at
colleges and universities such as Yale, Cornell, Harvard, Princeton,
Johns Hopkins, and performed a special poetry reading at the Library
of Congress.
