Dr. Paul A. MacKenzie lost a hard fought
battle with cancer and died Friday, September 12, 2003 at home.
He and his wife, the former Christine A. Neff , a 1978 Lycoming
graduate, celebrated their 26th anniversary on July 20,
2003.
Dr. MacKenzie was on the faculty of Lycoming College for 33
years. He served as chairman of the Foreign Languages Department for
many years, wrote a number of scholarly books and articles, and
enjoyed performing in the theatre.
A member of the First United Methodist Church, he sang in their
choir and had served on their nursery school board. He was a member
of the A.A.T.G., played the bagpipes and liked gardening, traveling,
Celtic and classical music, literature and art.
Born March 27, 1942, in Quincy, Mass., he was a son of Russel and
Pauline Knebel MacKenzie.
Surviving, besides his wife, is a son, Matt D. Frey of Titusville,
Fla.; daughters, Kate G. of New York City and Annah E. of Boston;
brother, David A. of Warren, Conn.; sister, Judith Clark of Acton,
Mass.; and granddaughters, Candace, Amber and Mertina.
