Lycoming College Receives $125,000 Grant from
the Department of Environmental Protection
Lycoming College is the recipient of a $125,000 Growing Greener grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection that will help to create a repository web site for watershed data throughout the state.

According to Dr. Mel Zimmerman , chairman of the College’s Biology Department and director of the College’s Clean Water Institute, the grant will be used to buy software and equipment and pay a systems analyst to create and maintain the special web site. The site will be used to provide background and education on stream restoration and technical data for watershed projects.

Lycoming College will also benefit from three other Growing Greener grants awarded to Lycoming County watersheds. Lycoming College students will help in the data collection and analysis of ecosystems along Lycoming Creek, Big Bear Creek and Munch Creek.
