Note: William G. Ward is the son of Hibbard Potter Ward (1817-1849), and the nephew of Amelia Ward Reeder [wife of Glezen Asbury Reeder (1824-1892)] and Julia Ward Ward [wife of Myron T. Ward (1816-1903)] – all of the North Ohio Conference. He is the author of the 1898 book Tennyson’s Debt to Environment.  Mrs. Ward, a direct descendant of John Alden and Priscilla Mullins of Mayflower fame, is also an author of note and promoter of women’s clubs – and she is listed in The Biographical Cyclopedia of American Women, volume 1, page 308.

Note: The actual service record of Henry F. Wardell is unclear.  He never served in the Wyoming Conference of the Methodist Episcopal Church but is included here because of his connection to the Daleville church, which became part of the Wyoming Conference in 1939.    Except for a brief time under appointment and his service in the Civil War, H.F. Wardell spent his entire life in Daleville, serving as a justice of the peace and as Sunday School superintendent for 30 years.

Woodruff.  Connecticut Farms NJ is the present Union Township NJ.  After preaching in the Congregational church for a few years, he left the ministry to study medicine.  Soon after his 1882 graduation from Buffalo Medical College, he died of pneumonia.  The first Mrs. Woodruff is buried in Walnut Grove Cemetery at Hawley PA.  The second Mrs. Woodruff was later ordained by the Congregational Church in 1893 to serve in Little Valley NY, where her late husband had once served.  She later served in Brockton NY and St. Johnsbury VT.  She is buried in Evergreen Cemetery at Spencer NY.

Note: Caleb E. Wright was admitted to the Bucks County Bar, and practiced at it until he removed to practice law in his native Wilkes-Barre in 1853.  He returned to Doylestown in 1876, where he concentrated on literary pursuits and church work.  His article “Lesson from the Bar to the Pulpit” appeared in the July 1865 Methodist Review, page 409.  His death notice in the Philadelphia Conference journal called him “a local elder in Doylestown, and one of the most acceptable local preachers on the district.”
