Journal references:

Brief History:
This congregation was formed in 1965 by the union of the Witmers West (former Evangelical Association, a.k.a. Witmers First) and Witmers East (former United Evangelical) congregations.  The 1894 split in the Evangelical Association badly divided the Witmers congregation, and the dissenting United Evangelicals erected a new building across the road from the original Evangelical Association structure.  Reportedly, the contention was so dep that some bodies were exhumed and reinterred in the new cemetery across the road.  Following the 1922 denominational re-union to form the Evangelical Church, the two congregations were place on different charges and remained so into the Evangelical United Brethren Church.  In 1964 the congregations were finally placed on the same change with the same pastor, and the in 1965 congregations agreed to unite.  The present structure, with the bells of the two former church buildings in its front yard, was built on the original Witmers West site.
