Note: Bay View Asylum was erected in 1866, became part of the Baltimore City Hospitals in 1925, and is now part of the Johns Hopkins facilities.  One source suggests J.H. Slicer Clarke never married.  Maser’s 1969 history indicates (with question marks) a wife with initials J.C. who died in 1913, but these appear to be extraneous jottings referring to James C. Clarke that found their way into the final manuscript.
