Note: C.F. Veil is listed as a local deacon living in Liberty PA and is referred to a Judge C.F. Veil.  The Veil family operated a tannery about one mile north of Liberty in an area known as Veiltown.  This surname is sometimes given as VAIL or VEILE.

Note: Herman E. Voss came to America with his parents at the age of nine and settled in Amherst NE.  In 1899 he was in Pennsylvania attending the Central Pennsylvania College of the United Evangelical Church in New Berlin PA.  When the denomination opened Westmar College in LeMars IA in 1900, he transferred there and graduated in 1904.  His 1899 license in the Central Pennsylvania Conference occurred during his brief college experience in New Berlin, and his connection to the Central Pennsylvania Conference is peripheral and not even mentioned in standard accounts of his life.  Lilla Snyder Voss served in China 1905-15 and died there.  Sadie Dunkelberger Voss served in China 1912-27.

Note: A obituary also appears in the 1/12/1911 New York Christian Advocate, page 63.  Tradition is that Freeman S. Vought left the Evangelical Association because of the growing turmoil that led to the 1891 split resulting in the 1894 formation of the United Evangelical denomination.
