Artist Statement

When people live in a divided community, everyone suffers. Hatred not only hurts the people it is directed towards, it also hurts those who hate. Hatred requires a lot of time, energy, and passion. For every feeling of hatred, a person looses a little bit of love in their heart and energy in their soul. Eventually hatred will consume a person’s life, they will begin to hate their family, they will hate their friends, and they will hate themselves. For this project I wanted the design to represent what hatred can do to a community. I wanted the simple design, contrasting colors, and harsh lines to be more important than the text. I want people to look at my poster and immediately feel the pain and violence hatred causes.
