Artist's Statement

I wanted my piece to be a visual reminder that the United States is a country of diversity that accepts all races and cultures. Unlike other countries, our flag has no religious reference, but symbolize freedom and equality for everyone. I wanted to bring attention to the words that have meaning in our country by using the image of the flag. I believe we sometimes need to be reminded, the flag accepts everyone. We, as humans, have a tendency at times to discriminate, and see difference in people; the United States flag does not see that difference. We are all equal to the flag.
