Faculty and Staff Calling Guide

Personal Telephone Access Code

For personal calls originating from the Campus, faculty and staff should use their personal telephone access code (T.A.C.). T.A.C.'s are available through the Telecommunications Office, located in the A/C, Room A2. the Telecommunications Office will bill employees monthly for completed calls. Contact Brigitte Brahms, ext. 4071 for additional information.

Dialing Instructions Using a T.A.C.

1. Lift your handset.
2. Dial # + 9(you will hear a steady tone).
3. Enter your T.A.C. + 9.
4. Dial the number you wish to call.

Quick Reference Guide for Users of Single Line Phones

    Call Forwarding (After 4 Rings):
    1. Lift your handset to receive the dial tone.
    2. Press *5. When you hear the beeps, enter the extension.
    3. Return your handset.
        To Continue:
        1. Lift your handset.
        2. Press *6. When you hear the beeps, enter the extension.
        3. Return your handset.
        To Cancel:
        1. Press #5, then #6.

    Call Forwarding Busy (Call is Forwarded Only if the Line is Busy):
    1. Lift your handset.
    2. Press *6 + extension.
        To Cancel:
        1. Press #6.

    Call Forwarding All Calls:
    1. Lift your handset.
    2. Press *4 + extension.
        To Cancel:
        1. Press #4.

    Place A Call On Hold:
        Phones with a Flash or Tap Button:
        1. Press the button lightly, then press *1.
        2. To release, press the Flash or Tap button.

        Other Single Line Phones:
        1. Press the latch key (located under the handset), and then press *1.
        2. To release, press the latch key.

Conference Call (Three-Way Calling)

1. While the first caller is on the line, press the Flash (or TAP) key.
2. When you hear the beeps, dial the next number extension.
3. When the party answers, press the Flash (or TAP) key; you will have established a three-     way call.

Transfer A Call

1. Press the Flash (or TAP) key. 2. When you hear the beeps, neter the extension where you     wish to transfer your call.

Call Pick-Up (Pick Up Another Extension Within the Department

1. Press *8.

Redial

1. In the case of a busy tone or no answer, you can redial the number. For this purpose,     cradle the handset, lift it again and press the redial button.

Programming Speed Dial Numbers

1. NOTE: keys are silent while programming - they do not press down when punched.
2. Remove the plastic cover and the directory card.
3. Pick up the handset from the cradle, then press the STORE button.
4. Dial the number you wish to store.
5. Press the STORE button.
6. Press the Speed Dial button which you wish to store.
7. If an error is made while programming a number, place the handset on the cradle and then     repeat steps from 3.
8. Replace the plastic cover and the directory card.

Each Speed Dial number can store a maximum of 32 digits. If the telephone line is disconnected, speed dial numbers will be saved up to 10 years while disconnected. Speed Dial numbers are stored and may be dialed with the touch of a single button.
