Peter
Seldin is Distinguished Professor of Management at Pace University in New York.
Seldin is a nationally-recognized expert on faculty development and evaluation. He has been a consultant to more than 275 colleges and universities throughout the United States and in thirty countries around the world. Seldin is a member of The National Leadership Group of The American Council On Education, and he is on the editorial board of Innovative Higher Education.
Seldin is a highly-regarded speaker at national and international conferences, and he recently presented invited papers at the National Conference Of The American Council On Education in San Diego, California, and at The International Conference On Improving University Teaching in Brisbane, Australia.
Seldin is a frequent contributor of articles on education and management issues for publications including Change Magazine, The Chronicle Of Higher Education, and The New York Times. His formal academic education includes post-doctoral training at The University of London, a Ph.D. from Fordham University, an M.B.A. from Long Island University, and a B.A. from Hobart College. All of his degrees are in the behavioral sciences.
Seldin has written numerous books on faculty development and evaluation, including his best-known work, The Teaching Portfolio: A Practical Guide to Improved Performance and Promotion/Tenure Decisions, and his most recent book, Changing Practices in Evaluating Teaching: A Practical Guide to Improved Faculty Performance and Promotion.
Most importantly, Seldin practices what he preaches. He was one of just 99 college and university faculty members chosen by the American Association For Higher Education - on the basis of his teaching - to take part in its recent national forum on exemplary teaching.
Seldin will teach a special pre-conference workshop on Thursday, May 3rd (1:30-4:30 PM), and he will give the keynote address on Friday, May 4th.
