Warriors End Regular Season with Loss at Drew

Madison, N.J. – Lycoming women’s tennis finished a rough regular season of play with an 8-1 loss to Drew University on Sunday afternoon, but improved play over the past few weeks lends hope to the Lady Warriors in the upcoming MASCAC tournament.

Senior Kate Petcavage (Williamsport, Pa./Williamsport) continued her recent string of hot play at number three singles with a 7-5, 7-5 (7-3) victory over Dragana Trivic of the Warriors lone point of the match.  The triumph marked the second straight singles victory for Petcavage and the fourth victory in her last five matches.

Juniors Lauren Paich (Stanhope, N.J./Lenape Valley Reg.) and Amery Lim (Stroudsburg, Pa./Stroudsburg) had excellent matches at number two and four singles, respectively.  Paich battled back from a 3-6 first set deficit to force a third frame with a 6-4 triumph in the second set.  She fell in the super-tiebreaker 7-10.

Lim recovered from a bit larger hole after falling 1-6 in the first set.  She claimed victory of the second set 6-4, but fell 10-8 in the third set super-tiebreaker 8-10.

Lycoming will prepare for the MASCAC Individual Tournament over the next week.  The tournament is schedule for October 22 and 23 at Lehigh University.
