LYCOMING WOMEN’S TENNIS DEFEATS JUNIATA

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The Lycoming College women’s tennis team hosted Juniata College, Saturday afternoon, for a non-conference match. The Warriors picked up their first victory of the season, defeating the Eagles 7-2. Lycoming is now 1-6 overall. Juniata falls to 0-6.

Lauren Paich (So./Stanhope, N.J.; Lanape Valley Regional) and Kate Petcavage (Jr./Williamsport, Pa.; Williamsport) got the Warriors off to a strong start with an 8-3 win at first doubles. Erin Horsley (Sr./Allegany, N.Y.; Allegany) and Katie Koury (Sr./Mansfield, Pa.; Mansfield) added an 8-5 victory at second doubles.

In singles action, Josemar Castillo (Jr./Maracaibo, Venezuela; Claret and Muncy) won by scores of 6-2, 6-0, from the first position. Paich tallied her second victory of the afternoon at second singles with a 6-1, 6-1 win. Petcavage also added a second win with a 6-1, 6-0 victory in the fourth position. Koury contributed a win from the fifth position by scores of 6-2, 6-1; and Amery Lim (So./Stroudsburg, Pa.; Stroudsburg) rounded out the scoring with a 6-0, 6-3, victory at sixth singles.

Lycoming is scheduled to travel to Susquehanna University on Wednesday, September 29, for their next match.
