WARRIOR WOMEN’S TENNIS DROPS CLOSE MATCH AT WILKES

EDWARDSVILLE, Pa. – The Lycoming College women’s tennis team traveled to Wilkes University, Thursday afternoon, for a Freedom Conference match. The Warriors won 2-of-3 doubles matches, but could only claim 2-of-6 singles matches falling to the Colonels by a team score of 4-5. Lycoming drops to 0-6 overall and 0-4 in the conference. Wilkes moves to 3-3 and 2-2.

Lauren Paich (So./Stanhope, N.J.; Lenape Valley Regional) and Kate Petcavage (Jr./Williamsport, Pa.; Williamsport) got the Warriors off to a strong start with an 8-2 victory at first doubles. Erin Horsley (Sr./Allegany, N.Y.; Allegany) and Katie Koury (Sr./Mansfield, Pa.; Mansfield) added an exciting 9-7 win at second doubles.

In singles play, Paich tallied her second victory of the afternoon with a 6-3, 6-0, win in the first position. Koury contributed Lycoming’s other singles point with a 6-2, 6-4 triumph at fourth singles.

The Warriors return home for their next match, hosting Juniata College on Saturday, September 25. The match is scheduled to begin at noon.
