LYCOMING WOMEN’S TENNIS PLAYERS COMPETE IN MAC TOURNAMENTS

MADISON, N.J. – Three members of the 2004 Lycoming College women’s tennis team traveled to Drew University to compete in the Middle Atlantic Conference Singles and Doubles Championships, Saturday and Sunday.

Josemar Castillo (Jr./Maracaibo, Venezuela; Claret and Muncy), Lauren Paich (So./Stanhope, N.J.; Lenape Valley Regional), and Amery Lim (So./Stroudsburg, Pa.; Stroudsburg) each competed in the singles tournament. Castillo was in the number one flight, Paich entered the number two flight, and Lim competed in the number six flight. Castillo and Paich also teamed up to compete in the number one flight of the doubles tournament.

In singles play, Castillo won her first match defeating Danielle Dormer of Susquehanna University, 6-2, 6-2. She then fell to Becky Deringer of Moravian College, 6-4, 6-1. Paich and Lim each lost their opening matches. Paich was defeated by Caitlyn Wyble of FDU-Florham, 6-2, 6-0; and Lim lost to Jaclyn Sindler of Susquehanna, 6-0, 6-3.

Castillo and Paich claimed a victory in the opening doubles match over Anita DeSai and Jenna Taylor of Juniata College 8-1. The duo then suffered an 8-4 loss to Becky Deringer and Jillian Iacovelli of Moravian.
