WARRIOR WOMEN’S TENNIS TOPS JUNIATA

WILLIAMSPORT, PA – The Lycoming College women’s tennis team picked up a non-conference road win, Tuesday afternoon, at Juniata College. The Warriors swept the doubles matches and won 5-of-6 singles matches to claim the 8-1 team victory. Lycoming is now 2-1 on the season.

In doubles play, Heidi von Schwedler (Sr./Tannersville, Pa.; Pocono Mountain) and Josemar Castillo (So./Maracaibo, Venezuela; Claret and Muncy) combined for an 8-5 victory in the first position. Anna Heffner (Fr./Williamsport, Pa.; Williamsport) and Kate Petcavage (So./Williamsport, Pa.; Williamsport) added a 9-8 (7-4) win at second doubles. Lauren Paich (Fr./Stanhope, N.J.; Lenape Valley Reg.) and Amery Lim (Fr./Stroudsburg, Pa.; Stroudsburg) rounded out doubles play with an 8-5 win in the third position.

In singles play, von Schwedler won 6-1, 6-4, from the first position. Castillo won 6-0, 6-1, at second singles. Paich was victorious at third singles, 6-1, 6-1. In the fourth position, Heffner won 6-0, 0-6, 10-6 tiebreaker. And finally, Lauren Pilgermayer (Jr./Reeders, Pa.; Pleasant Valley) picked up a 6-2, 6-3 victory at sixth singles.

The Warriors are in action again on Saturday, September 13, when they travel to the University of Scranton for a key conference match.
