WOMEN’S TENNIS SUFFERS LOSS AT SCRANTON
SCRANTON, PA – The
Lycoming College women’s tennis team traveled to the University of
Scranton, Wednesday afternoon, for a Freedom Conference match. The
Warriors won 2-of-3 doubles matches but could manage just one victory in
singles play, falling to the Royals 6-3. Lycoming is now 4-4 overall and
3-3 within the conference this season. Scranton improves to 10-4 and 5-1.
Heidi von Schwedler
(Sr./Tannersville, Pa.; Pocono Mountain)
and Josemar Castillo (So./Maracaibo, Venezuela; Claret and Muncy)
picked up an 8-2 victory at first doubles. Lauren Paich (Fr./Stanhope,
N.J.; Lanape Valley Regional) and Anna Heffner (Fr./Williamsport,
Pa.; Williamsport) added an 8-6 win at third doubles.
In singles action, von
Schwedler was the Warriors’ lone winner with a 4-6, 7-5, 6-0 victory
over Maggie Leuzarder.
Lycoming will play again
on Friday, October 3, when they travel to Elizabethtown College for a
non-conference contest.
