WARRIOR WOMEN’S TENNIS
DEFEATS LEBANON VALLEY
WILLIAMSPORT, PA – The
Lycoming College women’s tennis team upped their record to 3-0, Monday
afternoon, with a victory over Lebanon Valley College. The Warriors won
2-of-3 doubles matches and 5-of-6 singles matches to secure the 7-2 team
victory. The Flying Dutchmen fell to 0-3 on the season.
Cricket Temple
(Sr./Picture Rocks, PA; Hughesville)
and Meredith Moerschbacher (Sr./Montoursville, PA; Montoursville)
opened things up with an 8-1 win at first doubles. Josemar Castillo
(Fr./Maracaibo, Venezuela; Muncy) and Heidi von Schwedler
(Jr./Tannersville, PA; Pocono Mountain) followed suit with an 8-2
victory in the second position.
Lycoming’s top four
players continued to play well in singles action, each recording another
win for the Warriors. Temple won at first singles 6-2, 6-2; Moerschbacher
won at second singles 6-2, 6-4; Castillo won at third singles 6-0, 6-0;
and von Schwedler won in the fourth spot 6-1, 6-3. Lauren Pilgermayer
(So./Reeders, PA; Pleasant Valley) added the team’s seventh point by
winning at fifth singles 6-3, 6-4.
Lycoming’s next match
is on Saturday, September 14, when they travel to DeSales University for a
Freedom Conference match.
