LYCOMING WOMEN’S
TENNIS DETHRONES MONARCHS
WILLIAMSPORT, PA – The
Lycoming College women’s tennis team picked up their sixth win of the
season, Monday afternoon, defeating King’s College 5-1. The Warriors won
2-of-3 doubles matches and three singles matches for the victory. The
final three singles matches were not completed. Lycoming improves to 6-1
overall and 4-1 within the MAC Freedom Conference. The Monarchs fall to
2-8 and 1-3.
Josemar Castillo (Fr./Maracaibo,
Venezuela; Muncy) and Heidi von
Schwedler (Jr./Tannersville, PA; Pocono Mountain) picked up an 8-2 win
at first doubles to get things started for the Warriors. Cricket Temple
(Sr./Picture Rocks, PA; Hughesville) and Amy Ramaley (Sr./Easton,
PA; Pen Argyl) added another victory from the second position, 8-1.
In singles play, Temple,
Castillo, and von Schwedler each recorded their second win of the
afternoon. Temple defeated Megan Michael, 6-3, 6-2, in first singles.
Castillo topped Rita Kaluzavich at second singles, 6-0, 6-0. And von
Schwedler picked up a win over Beth Ann Hill, 6-0, 6-3, in the third
position.
Lycoming will host nearby
rival Susquehanna University on Wednesday, October 2, for their next
match. The contest is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
