WARRIOR WOMEN’S TENNIS
DEFEATS DREW
WILLIAMSPORT, PA – The
Lycoming College women’s tennis team hosted Drew University, Tuesday
afternoon, in a Freedom Conference match. The Warriors won 2-of-3 doubles
matches and 4-of-6 singles matches to secure a 6-3 team victory. Lycoming
improves to 5-1 overall and 3-1 in the conference with the win. The
Rangers fall to 2-3 overall.
Cricket Temple
(Sr./Picture Rocks, PA; Hughesville)
and Meredith Moerschbacher (Sr./Montoursville, PA; Montoursville)
led off with an 8-1 victory at first doubles. Josemar Castillo (Fr./Maraciabo,
Venezuela; Muncy) and Heidi von Schwedler (Jr./Tannersville, PA;
Pocono Mountain) added an 8-4 win at second doubles.
In singles play, the same
four student-athletes recorded wins for the Warriors. Temple won at first
singles 6-2, 6-2, to improve to 6-0 on the season. Moerschbacher won 6-1,
6-1, in the second position and is also 6-0 this season. Castillo won 6-1,
6-2, at third singles to improve to 5-1. And von Schwedler upped her
overall record to 5-1 with a 6-1, 6-3, victory at fourth singles.
Lycoming is home again on
Thursday, September 26, when they host conference foe King’s College.
