TEMPLE AND MOERSCHBACHER NAMED TO WOMEN’S TENNIS ALL-CONFERENCE
TEAM
WILLIAMSPORT, PA –
The Middle Atlantic Corporation announced the 2002 women’s tennis
all-conference teams, Monday afternoon. Lycoming College is represented
on the All-Freedom Conference team by seniors Cricket Temple (Picture
Rocks, PA; Hughesville) and Meredith Moerschbacher
(Montoursville, PA; Montoursville).
Temple was named to
the all-star team for the third consecutive year and was also named the
Player of the Year for the second time in her career. This season,
Temple compiled a 12-2 record in singles play with both her losses
coming against MAC singles champion Tara McHugh of Susquehanna. For her
career, Temple has a singles mark of 49-6. She has finished as the MAC
runner-up twice (2000 and 2002) and was the conference champion in 1999.
She also has a career record of 37-5 in doubles action, including a mark
of 28-3 when paired with Moerschbacher.
Moerschbacher was
named to the all-star team for the second consecutive season.
Lycoming’s number two singles player, she compiled a 9-0 record during
the regular season. She then added two more victories at the MAC singles
tournament to advance to the quarterfinal round before falling to
McHugh, the eventual tournament champion. Moerschbacher ends her
collegiate career with a singles record of 44-6 and a doubles mark of
37-4.
Over the past four
seasons the Warrior women’s tennis team has gone 34-9 with Temple and
Moerschbacher in the lineup.
