LYCOMING WOMEN’S
TENNIS SUFFERS LOSS AT
FDU-FLORHAM
MADISON, NJ – The
Lycoming College women’s tennis team suffered their first loss of the
season, Friday afternoon, falling to FDU-Florham by a score of 5-4. The
Warriors won just 1-of-3 doubles matches to put themselves in a hole
entering singles play. Lycoming then split with the Devils, winning three
singles matches but also dropping three to make the final team scores 5-4
in favor of the home team. The Warriors are now 4-1 overall this season.
FDU improves to 8-1 overall.
Cricket Temple
(Sr./Picture Rocks, PA; Hughesville)
and Meredith Moerschbacher (Sr./Montoursville, PA; Montoursville)
teamed up at first doubles for an 8-1 victory, improving their season
record to 5-0.
The duo also kept the
singles records perfect at 5-0 with victories in the first and second
positions for Lycoming. Temple won by scores of 6-1, 6-3; and
Moerschbacher came back to win 1-6, 6-1, 6-3. Heidi von Schwedler
(Jr./Tannersville, PA; Pocono Mountain) was the other Warrior to win
in singles play, defeating her opponent at fourth singles, 6-2, 6-2.
Lycoming will be at home
for their next match hosting Drew University on Tuesday, September 24. The
match will begin at 4 p.m.
