LYCOMING WOMEN’S
TENNIS WINS THIRD IN A ROW
WILLIAMSPORT, PA –
The Lycoming College women’s tennis team won their third
consecutive match over a conference opponent Monday afternoon. The
Warriors defeated DeSales University 7-2 to improve their record to 5-1
overall and 4-1 within the MAC Freedom Conference.
Cricket Temple
(Jr./Hughesville, PA; Hughesville)
and Meredith Moerschbacher (Jr./Montoursville, PA; Montoursville)
got things started at first doubles with an 8-1 win. Heidi von
Schwedler (So./Tannersville, PA; Pocono Mountain) and Pamela Zeger
(Fr./Potomac, MD; Winston Churchill) recorded an 8-2 victory at second
doubles. Lycoming tallied the doubles sweep when the Bulldogs forfeited
the third contest.
In singles action, Temple
and Moerschbacher secured wins in the first and second positions. Temple
won 6-4, 6-1; and Moerschbacher won 6-2, 6-3. DeSales won at third and
fourth singles but had to forfeit the final two positions, giving the
Warriors the 7-2 victory.
Lycoming will play again
on Wednesday when they travel to Susquehanna University.
