PLAYERS RECEIVE
POST-SEASON HONORS
WILLIAMSPORT, PA –
The Middle Atlantic Corporation’s Freedom Conference announced
the post-season awards for women’s tennis Thursday afternoon. Lycoming
College’s Cricket Temple (Jr./Hughesville, PA; Hughesville) and Meredith
Moerschbacher (Jr./Montoursville, PA; Montoursville) were both named
first-team all-stars; and Pamela Zeger (Fr./Potomac, MD; Winston
Churchill) was honored as the Rookie of the Year.
Temple was the
Warriors’ number one singles player last season, compiling a record of
9-3. In her 12 matches, she only lost a total of six sets. Moerschbacher
recorded a mark of 12-2 playing in the number two singles position. She
lost only five sets in 14 matches. The duo also teamed up as Lycoming’s
first doubles team and went 9-2 on the season.
In her first collegiate
campaign, Zeger compiled a singles record of 9-1 playing in the third,
fourth, fifth, and sixth positions. She also went 11-3 in doubles play,
teaming up with Heidi von Schwedler in the second position and Alissa
Brown in the third position.
As
a team the Warriors went 9-1 during the regular season and 9-2 overall. It
was the program’s ninth consecutive winning season. |
