Lady Warriors Fall to FDU-Florham

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa.- Lycoming went into the game looking to break a five game winless drought and, more importantly, to end a two game scoring drought. But both streaks continued for the Lady Warriors as they fell to FDU-Florham 2-0. With the loss, the Lady Warriors drop to 2-5-1 (0-3 in conference) while FDU-Florham improves to 7-3-1.   

Lycoming played tough throughout the game and had a couple of great chances, but they just couldn’t seem to find the back of the net. Their two best opportunities came from the feet of Sarah Wingerden (Macedon, N.Y.) and Rebekah Shipe (Northumberland, Pa.); however, both shots were saved by FDU goalkeeper Melissa Braun.

FDU’s first goal came four minutes into the 2^nd half as Lauren Wittenberg scored off of a rebound shot. Their second goal came with 14 minutes remaining in the game as Laura Verzi scored on a free kick.

Lycoming freshman goalie, Brie Pepe (Lafayette N.J.), made her second start of the year, replacing injured Jessica Bennett (Crofton, Md.). Pepe was credited with 3 saves for the game

The Lady Warriors next match is on Wednesday October 4 when they travel to Lancaster Bible. Game time is scheduled for 4:00 pm.
