Lady Warriors' Head Coach
Kennell Steps Back from Squad, Retains
Men's Team
WILLIAMSPORT,
Pa. --- Lycoming women’s soccer will be under leadership when
the team opens its regular season schedule on Saturday
afternoon. Current Lycoming men’s
and
women’s soccer assistant coach Trevor Loehr has been named the
new Lady Warriors head coach in an announcement made by the
Lycoming athletic department.
Scott Kennell,
who has coached both Warrior squads for the past four seasons,
will remain as the men’s team head coach.
“Coach Loehr
will do an excellent job with the women’s team,” explained Coach
Kennell. “He knows the team, knows the players, and is prepared
to guide them to a successful season.”
A 1999 graduate of Lycoming, Coach Loehr looks forward to his
new role at his alma mater.
“I’m very excited for this opportunity,” mentioned Coach Loehr.
“I’m hopeful that the transition will be as smooth as possible
so that we can work towards a successful season. This team has
the talent to play with anybody in the conference and make a run
at a postseason berth.”
Coach Loehr has spent the last four seasons as an assistant for
the men’s soccer team and the last two with the women’s squad.
He has also coached at Williamsport Area High School and
Giddings State School in Texas. He has earned his National
Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) National Diploma
and is in the process of achieving his Advanced National
Diploma.
During his playing days at Lycoming, Coach Loehr was a four year
member of the Warrior men’s team. He earned several honors
including the team’s most improved player award and a First Team
All-Conference nod.
Coach Loehr resides in Williamsport with his wife, Vicki, and
their daughters Ava and Anna. |
