Williamsport, Pa. - After coming off a very tough game with Elizabethtown, Lycoming next hosted Wilkes University and fell 5-0. The lost was the third in a row for the Lady Warriors as their record now stands at 2-4-1 (0-2 in the conference) while Wilkes improves to 6-2-1. The best chance for the Lady Warriors in the 1st half came in the last minute when Rebekah Shipe (Northumberland, Pa.) had a one on one breakaway with the goalie Liz Pauly, but Pauly made an unbelievable save to keep Wilkes ahead 2-0. To start the 2nd half Lycoming put a lot of pressure on Wilkes including two good scoring opportunities by Sarah Wingerden (Macedon, N.Y.) and Amanda Smolarek (Cranbury, N.Y.) Unfortunately the Warriors were unable to score and Wilkes pulled away by scoring three more goals in the 2nd half. Wilkes was lead by Catherine Simone with 2 goals and Rebecca Duttry with 1 goal and 1 assist. Goalies Jessica Bennett (Crofton, Md.) and Brie Pepe (Lafayette, N.J.) made 6 total saves for the Lady Warriors. Lycoming’s next match is Thurs. Sept. 28, when they host Cedar Crest. Game time is scheduled for 4:00 pm.
