Women’s Soccer Struggles in Conference Opener |

SCRANTON, Pa.– The Lady Warriors got off on the wrong foot on Wednesday. They lost their freedom conference opener to Scranton 7-1. The loss puts the Lady Warriors at 2-3-1 overall, while Scranton becomes 5-2 (1-0 in conference).
Lycoming opened well as Dana Steinbruch (Wyckoff, N.J.) scored on a 35 yard shot that chipped the goalie. It was Dana’s second goal of the season. Unfortunately, it was the only shot the Lady Warriors would get, compared to the 30 taken by Scranton. Scranton's Mary Beth Vogel and Eileen Sodano each scored 2 goals. Three other Lady Royals scored.
Jessica Bennett (Crofton, Md.) was overwhelmed with shots throughout the game, but made 13 saves in the losing effort.
The next game for the Lady Warriors is Sept. 23, when they host Elizabethtown. Match time for this game is 3:30.
