Women’s Soccer Dominates in Shutout
Warriors blank Giants of Keystone
Williamsport, Pa. --- The Lycoming College Lady Warriors
dominated the Keystone Giants on the turf Sunday afternoon,
winning 5-0. Scoring was all Lycoming had on their minds, when
Stephanie Shearer (Reading, Pa.) buried the ball off a
rebound the goalie did not control. Rebekah Shipe
(Northumberland, Pa.) scored the second goal of the game on
a textbook fast break from Stephanie Shearer.
Dana Steinbruch (Wyckoff, N.J.) took advantage of a poor
pass in the middle of the second half, sticking it to the Giants
once more. The Lady Warriors scoring machine was not finished
just yet. Sarah Wingerden (Macedon, N.Y.) came in to
strike one home in the net just four minutes after Steinbruch.
With about ten minutes left in the game, Shipe and Shearer
hooked up again, this time Shipe sending the ball forward,
creating a beautiful one-on-one with Keystones goalie.
The offensive side of the ball was not the only ones being
productive in the game. The defense all but shut down the
Giants, holding them to just four shots through the entire game.
Junior Jessica Bennett (Crofton, Md.) played well between
the pipes, pulling down three saves on three shots on goal.
The Lady Warriors return to action again on Wednesday September
13, 2006 as they square off against the Juniata Eagles. Start
time is scheduled for 4:30 pm at Juniata.
