Warriors Cruise to Third Victory

Williamsport, Pa. – The Lycoming College women’s soccer team picked up its third win of the season in a stress-free match up with Mount Aloysius College on Tuesday afternoon.  The Warriors (3-1) put five goals on the scoreboard before halftime, and relaxed in the second stanza before securing a 6-0 victory at the Shangraw Athletic Complex.

The Mounties (1-4), with only 11 of their 17 rostered players making the trip, rarely crossed the midfield line in the one-sided sided affair.

Junior Stephanie Bomgardner (Dauphin, Pa./Central Dauphin East), making her first start as a striker this season, recorded the first goal of the match just 56 seconds after the opening whistle.  Freshman Stephanie Shearer (Reading, Pa./Muhlenberg) assisted on Bomgardner’s goal and tallied her own just three minutes later on a cross from sophomore Danielle Curry (West Chester, Pa./East).

Freshman Rebekah Shipe (Northumberland, Pa./Northumberland Christian) scored her fourth goal of the season following a nice run along the right sideline.

Freshman Sarah Feaster (Montgomery, Pa./Montgomery Area) and junior Angie Conklin (Shermans Dale, Pa./West Perry) both were on the receiving end of midfielder Amanda Rhinesmith (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cedar Cliff) assists to close the first half scoring.

Curry added her fourth tally of the season in the 61st minute when she tucked a bending shot into the upper far corner of the Mounties goal.

The Warriors are next in action on Sunday, September 18, against Juniata College.  The Eagles travel to Williamsport for a 1:00 p.m. showdown.
