Women's Soccer Falls at FDU

Madison, N.J. – The Lycoming women’s soccer team was unable to muster a consistent attack Saturday afternoon as the Warriors dropped their third straight conference match to FDU-Florham 3-1.  Lycoming falls to 6-5 overall, 1-3 in the Freedom Conference.

FDU opened up a 1-0 early in the match when Meg Griswold notched a goal in the 8^th minute.  The Devil’s Amanda Buyes increased their lead to 2-0 with a tally just 11 minutes later from Lena Kalika.

Kathleen Rivera gave FDU a 3-0 advantage going into the half when she scored in the 35^th minute.  Griswold picked up the assist on that score.

Lycoming got one back in the 55^th minute when sophomore Danielle Curry (West Chester, Pa./East) dropped in her sixth goal of the season.  Curry stripped a Devil defender, feinted the keeper, and deposited the ball in the back of the net.

Keeper Jessica Bennett (Crofton, Md./South River) did her best to keep Lycoming in the match with 17 saves, but the Warriors were unable to break-through the Devil back line with enough regularity to threaten FDU’s lead.

Lycoming is next in action on Thursday, October 13, as the Warriors welcome Baptist Bible College to Williamsport.  Game time is set for 4:00 p.m.
