Posts Deny Lady Warriors Against Drew

Williamsport, Pa. – The Warrior women’s soccer team hit the post three times in falling to Drew University 3-0 at the Shangraw Athletic Complex on Saturday afternoon.  The loss drops Lycoming 6-4 overall, 1-2 in the Freedom Conference.

Drew took the lead in the first half on a pair of goals from Katherine Trawinski and Cailin McGrorry.

Lycoming had three solid chances to score before the intermission, but the woodwork denied the Warriors on each occasion.  Freshman Rebekah Shipe (Northumberland, Pa./Northumberland Christian) was rejected twice.  First, she struck the cross-bar on a penalty kick, and then found the outside of one of the uprights five minutes later.

Junior stopper Stephanie Bomgardner (Dauphin, Pa./Central Dauphin East) broke through the Ranger defense only to be turned away by the post.

Drew increased its lead in the second half with a tally from midfielder Cait Mueller in the 51^st minute.

Lycoming will look to shake its current two-game skid against FDU-Florham on Saturday, October 8.  Game time is set for 1:00 p.m. in Madison, N.J.
