WARRIOR WOMEN’S SOCCER REMAINS
PERFECT IN CONFERENCE
DOYLESTOWN,
Pa. – The Lycoming College women’s soccer team traveled to
Delaware Valley College, Saturday afternoon, for a Freedom
Conference match. The Warriors scored one goal in the first half
and made it hold up for a 1-0 victory over the Aggies. The
victory was Lycoming’s fourth in row and second consecutive
shutout as they improve to 8-2 overall and 3-0 within the
conference. Delaware Valley falls to 2-8 and 0-3.
Kristen
Fenstermacher (So./Muncy Valley, Pa.; Hughesville)
scored the game’s only goal at the 32:39 mark off an assist from
Beth Weixel (Sr./Mill Hall, Pa.; Central Mountain). The
Warrior defense did the rest led by Kristina Kleintop
(Sr./Danielsville, Pa.; Northampton) who shut down Ana Mecaj,
a first-team all-conference selection in 2003 and Delaware
Valley’s top scoring threat.
Jessica
Bennett (Fr./Crofton, Md.; South River)
went the distance in goal for Lycoming making six saves and
recording her second career shutout.
The Warriors
return home for their next match versus conference rival Wilkes
University on Thursday, October 7. Kickoff is at 3:30 p.m.
