Women's Soccer

LYCOMING WOMEN’S SOCCER WINS THIRD STRAIGHT

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The Lycoming College women’s soccer team competed in their second conference match of the season, Wednesday afternoon, hosting King’s College. The Warriors scored two first-half goals and the defense made them stand up limiting the Monarchs to just one shot in the match. The 2-0 victory improves Lycoming’s overall record to 7-2 and their conference record to 2-0. King’s falls to 3-6 and 0-2.

The Warriors were led by Danielle Curry (Fr./West Chester, Pa.; East) who scored their first goal and assisted on their second.  Kaitlyn Prairie (Jr./Delran, N.J.; Delran) recorded the assist on Curry’s goal, and Beth Weixel (Sr./Mill Hall, Pa.; Central Mountain) tallied Lycoming’s second goal.

Jessica Bennett (Fr./Crofton, Md.; South River) played 90 minutes in goal for Lycoming and made one save to record the shutout – the first solo shutout of her collegiate career. Christine Uhl went the distance in goal for the Monarchs, making 13 saves.

The Warriors will travel to Delaware Valley College on Saturday, October 2, for another conference contest. The game is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
